Cross-country skiing – diagonally as well as skating: Training in fresh mountain air
The lower Pitztal valley offers an ideal height-training environment for cross-country skiers with its trails on three different levels:
At the doorstep of the Vier Jahreszeiten the valley cross-country ski trail (Talloipe), which is situated ca. 1650 metres above sea level, offers very effective height training for sports enthusiasts. The Rifflseeloipe cross-country ski trail, ca. 2100-2200 metres, is the next level. This trail leads you through breathtaking scenery around the frozen mountain lake to the West of the Vier Jahreszeiten.
With an average height of 2600 metres, the Pitztal glacier trail poses a great challenge. Thin air and a splendid view make cross-country skiing here a very different experience. All trails are well groomed and serviced for diagonal striding as well as for skating.
NEWLY OPENED 2010 – THE PITZTAL GLACIER CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING CENTRE
- Ascend with the Glacier Express to 2840 metres, then to the valley station with the 6-seater chair lift
- Professionally groomed skating and classic trails, varying in length between 3 and 7 kilometres (depending on the snow)
- Reduced cross-country skiing pass for ascend and descend with the Glacier Express
- For your perfect height training – between 2.690 m and 2.740 m you can improve your endurance with a height difference of 50 metres
In addition to the new Glacier Centre, a great network of tracks suitable for pros as well as beginners can be found on the Rifflseeloipe cross-country ski trail, which is situated ca. 2200 m above sea level.
In autumn 2010 you can combine this ideal environment with an ideal trainer: Cross-country skiing expert Martin Tauber will run a height-training camp especially for the Vier Jahreszeiten for your perfect start into the winter.
