Back to the roots in the Pitztal Valley

Adventures in the Austrian Alps

Fresh tracks in the snow. The scent of summer flowers. Cold water rushing past your bare feet. The sound of an ice pick as it is struck into a frozen waterfall. The sight of a mighty eagle as it soars above the highest peaks. The Pitztal Valley is raw, real and authentic. We believe there is no better place to get back to nature and rediscover what is truly important in life. At the same time, our region has a soft, gentle and colourful side – as fragile as a snowflake falling from the sky, fluttering its way down before settling on the ground to be joined by countless others. Spring, summer, autumn and winter, the Pitztal Valley is a huge alpine adventure playground waiting to be explored.

Winter experiences in the Pitztal Valley

Wonderful world of white

Snow crunching beneath your feet, fresh mountain air on your face and the sound of silence all around – the Pitztal Valley, home to the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten, is a winter wonderland at 1,600 metres above sea level. Skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing and cross-country skiing are just some of the activities which await visitors to the region.

Summer in the Pitztal Valley

Discover nature

Summer and autumn are a magical time of year in the Pitztal Valley. Eagles soar high above, the meadows are covered in a thick carpet of flowers, the region's lakes glisten in a thousand shades of blue. As autumn approaches the landscape changes, with the green of summer slowly replaced by reds, yellows, oranges and browns. For many, this is the best time of year for hiking – the heat of the summer has given way to cool days and clear skies. Perfect for enjoying the views all the way up to the glacier.

Explore the mountains the easy way

Cruise up to 3,440 metres

The ski lifts and cable cars on the Pitztal Glacier and in the valley's Hochzeiger ski resort offer visitors of all ages and fitness levels the opportunity to enjoy the Pitztal Valley from above. Families will enjoy the Rifflsee lake and the Zirbenpark outdoor adventure park, while the Café 3.440 at, you guessed it, 3,440 metres altitude is the highest café in Austria and offers truly breathtaking views.

Hubert von Goisern, Austrian musician
"Whenever the mountains are there, I know I can go up and get a new perspective on life."
