Winter holidays in the Pitztal Valley
Rediscover the magic of winter
Millions of snow crystals dancing in the sun. Tracks carved into the knee-deep powder. The laughter of children as they run and play. The wind in your hair as your toboggan picks up speed. The silence of the forest interrupted only by the sound of your breath. Winter in the Pitztal Valley is quiet and peaceful. Far from the bright lights and loud noises of daily life, it is a place which invites visitors to rediscover the magic of this special season and focus on what is truly important in life. At the same time, the valley has plenty of action and adventure for those keen to get the pulse racing and the adrenaline flowing. Discover new sports and explore the mountains in the company of a local guide. And, at the end of the day, there is no better place to relax and recharge your batteries than the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten. We look forward to welcoming you.
Ski touring
Ski touring, also sometimes referred to as ski mountaineering, has experienced a huge boom in recent years. Instead of using the lifts to get to the top of the mountain, skiers attach grippy "skins" to the bottom of their skis and walk up. After a change of clothes and a hot drink at the top, it is then time to cruise back down – either on the pistes or, for those with a little more experience, through open terrain. Guides are available for beginners new to the sport and advanced ski tourers with ambitious plans.
Cross-country skiing
Cross-country skiing is one of the most beautiful and yet challenging winter sports. It is a great way to experience the landscape, with many trails leading through forests and snow-covered meadows, yet at the same time it is a full-body workout which will get your pulse racing. There are two main techniques – Classic and Skating – with guides available to hire for those new to the sport.
"If you're feeling low, a day in the mountains is the best way to lift your mood."
Ice climbing
Ice climbing involves scaling frozen waterfalls using ice picks and crampons attached to your feet. What may look impossibly intimidating from the ground is, in fact, great fun when assisted by an experienced guide – and an adrenaline kick which will keep you nice and warm even on the coldest of days!
Snowshoe walking
Walking certainly isn't an activity reserved for summer only. Equipped with snowshoes, and poles, visitors to the Pitztal Valley are invited to get out and explore the region on foot. Our friendly and experienced guides will be happy to show you the best trails and the most beautiful vantage points from which to enjoy the peace and quiet of winter.
Family-friendly activities
Skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing, horse-drawn carriage rides, building a snowman – the Pitztal Valley has plenty of activities for families with children. Rediscover your inner child and let yourself be enchanted by this genuine winter wonderland we are proud to call home.
